Hey Cindy. I don't want you going out and buying a new printer just cuz of this. Why don't you wait and see if anyone else has any other ideas first. Let's try this first. Open up WordPad and type some underlined text and print it. See if the underlined text is still jagged. I'm trying to figure out if this is a Word problem or a printer problem. If the underlines print jagged from WordPad, then it's probably a printer problem. But that doesn't necessarily mean you need to buy a new printer. You can try reinstalling the printer drivers first and that might fix it. The easiest way to do that, is go to the Start button and go to Settings>Printers. Then, in the printer box, find your printer, click on it to select it (don't double click to open, just click once to select), then hit the delete key on your keyboard. This is not deleting your printer, it's just deleting the driver. Then reboot your computer, Windows will detect that you have new hardware and ask if you want it installed, say Yes. This will cause Windows to add the new driver. If that doesn't fix the jagged lines, then I would go to HP's website and search for the driver for your printer and download and install it. Many times there are known issues with drivers and they are updated all the time. And HP's have MANY issues with Word, so it's possible they have updated your driver to fix this. Also....I'm assuming you have plenty of ink in your printer? If the ink is getting low, this could also cause lines to look jagged. Keep us posted. I tried another font and it printed the same. I did align the print cartridge and it still looks the same so it must be the printer. Is there a particular brand you would recommend for a professional look?
