Dave is right that you're probably just deleting the section break and that
you should hit Shift + Control + 8 to display then when deleting stuff to
ensure they stay in place. And that inserting Textboxes and setting the flow
to each might work better.

I adopted this technique as a "work-around". It is effective, but I thought
I 
might have been misusing the section break between the ne-column pages and
the 
three-column page. The three linked text boxes is a viable alternative.
