Hi Christine That's great, I think you've hit it - I've just put today's deleted Read receipts back in my Inbox, opened them all and Tracking seems to appear on the Sent Item. Read receipts and Tracking are really important here because we have people who react to e-mails but forget to let you know that they have done something, or use Reply instead of Reply to All when you were cc'd on another person's message ..... and you get left out in the dark while others are running ahead with the matter in hand. Many thanks and your assumption re Exchange server is also right although I think it is Office XP itself that has the glitch Graham -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of McDonald, Christine, Ms, DCAA Sent: 15 September 2005 16:45 To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: FW: Re: Outlook: Read receipts and Tracking Yes, open the read receipt. That was my experience on Office XP. I'm assuming since you are on an intranet you are on an exchange server, which is what I am on. I tried setting up a rule to mark the receipt as read when it came in, but that didn't help either. I actually had to open the read receipt to get it to process. However, when you say "the only way to process is to open it" do you mean the Read receipt itself? =20 -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Graham Jones Sent: 15 September 2005 16:38 To: 'mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [mso] Re: Outlook: Read receipts and Tracking Christine That sounds good, but please explain what you mean by a read receipt being "processed" and where the option selection is? Many thanks Graham -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of McDonald, Christine, Ms, DCAA Sent: 15 September 2005 16:32 To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Outlook: Read receipts and Tracking I've messed with this and found that for the tracking to work, the read receipt has to be processed. With Office XP, I found the only way to actually process it was to open it, even though I set the option to process read receipts upon receipt.=3D20 Under Office 2003, it seems to work better, the receipt seems to process now with that option checked, it just doesn't process immediately, there is a delay. Also, if you've moved the original message to a pst folder, it can't find it to add the tracking info.=3D20 Christine McDonald, CPA Technical Specialist Information Technology Division (RSA-4) Western Regional Office -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Graham Jones Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 2:44 AM To: 'mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [mso] Outlook: Read receipts and Tracking Can anyone tell me why, on my work Intranet, some Sent Items messages have the Tracking Tab and some do not? The Option setting is that all messages require Read receipts, and so I also receive a Not Read if they are deleted without being fully opened. Also, why do some messages out to the Internet return Read receipts but only very few? Thanks A.
