That, too, is valid but it's not practical to switch on and off line
when you're on an always on network.<g>

This house is kind of unique for a little home in Chicago. We've 8
machines hooked up through a NATted Firewall with both a secured WiFi
radio network (2 stations) and a standard 10/100 ethernet network
underneath. There are two more switches connecting the LAN and the
firewall also has provisioning to automatically dial up and POTS
connection should the broadband die for any eason.

There are 2 servers in place, one is inbound VPN and internal DNS
(Forwarder) and the other is the DHCP and WINS server.

Each of our children has a laptop connected. Dian has a laptop and
standard desktop system. My mother-in-law is using a machine upstairs
and I run the servers, a laptop and a desktop system. When I fire up
VMWare, there are up to 4 more virtual systems running and using the
network.

When I come home and there's something wrong with the network, it's
almost like being at work (I'm exaggerating<sp?>)

It's a busy place and my corner computer lab looks like a Christmas tree
in the dark.<g>
