Carolyn. I looked around the Microsoft News forums and finally found
someone having the same problem as you. Both his chart wizard and office
assistant weren't working. No one on the forums was able to help him, but
his last reply was this:
________________

"Well, I solved it the stupid way. I checked the list of files in the
installation file (Setup folder), renamed them all, and re-installed Excel.
Re-install on the current version seemed to copy the files at the same
place. By tricking the install, I forced to copy new files. (I believe I've

got a cluster pb on my WinNT NTFS disk.)

At least it is now working ;-)

So, it looks like a complete uninstall/reinstall fixed it for him...but, as
you can see, he had to rename all his install files so the install would
work, which might not be something you are comfortable or able to do, but at
least you can show this to the tech

Good luck

Subject: [mso] Excel Problem

I have tried the detect and repair option off the help menu and sadly the
problem still exists. It looks like I might have to take it and get a Tech
to have a look for me.
Thanks for al the help.
Carolyn
