Do you REALLY mean the PREVIEW pane...since there is no such thing. There is
a PREVIEW VIEW and then there is a READING PANE.

So first, the answer is no. There's no "turn off [whatever] for everything.
But what you CAN do is define a new view that has the Reading Pane turned
on/off and the Preview view set on/off or for unread only. Then be sure to
set that view to any group and start applying it as needed.

If anyone DOES know of a way to set it to all globally, please jump in cos'
I've never found that ability and would love it. So far, creating a special
view is the best I can do.

Click View > Arrange By and go down to Define Views. Create your new view,
check to allow it to be applied to all and then apply as needed. The
view/reading options are under the OTHER SETTINGS option.

Note that I have a free video lesson on OL views here:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=571

The above doesn't show you exactly what you want to do...but it gets you
close to the understanding of how the views work. Next month, as a matter of
fact, I'll be explaining how to define and apply views. But assuming you
don't want to wait 2 weeks...check out the above, follow my directions
here...and give it a shot.

Good luck...

Is there a way to turn Preview Pane off globally? (I do not like Preview
Pane!)
