The other thing is, with a vertical boiler, you will not get to the grate
temperatures that other locos get to. Try a mild steel bar grate, I have one
in my sweet-pea, it lasts a season and that's flogging it!!!

Subject: [modeleng] cast fire grate wanted..............

Hi chaps

I'm building my first boiler (vertical) and am looking for a cast iron
fire grate to fit, after machining, up into a 3" diameter fire box. Any body
know of a supplier of such items. I've tried people like Stuart Turner,
Blackgates, Reeves etc in the UK but nothing appears in their catalouges.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Steve
