I recently tried the B & Q "Special metals" primer, on both brass and
galvanised iron.
(Not steam related items though.)
Subsequently I tried to remove some of it, and found it almost impossible to
do so.
Previously I have tried the Phoenox primer, and bead blasting, (not both at
the same time) and found both worked OK.
