Gee Barrie, I can't understand why the iron dust rusted then. I never oil
my mill table and have never had any rust get on it except a couple of times
when I had been using perchloroethane as tapping or machining fluid. That
of course removed all of the oil from the table surface and I had a reddish
cast develop overnight. I usually use lard/sulphur cutting oil for milling
and threading, but also use oil emulsion coolant quite a bit. Still no rust
has reared its ugly head except in the instance mentioned. As I mostly work
in brass for my models, I need no coolant.
