Hi All, Well as promised I went into Truro yesterday and saw the "City of Truro" on display in the centre of town. She looked really splendid. She is arranged together with her tender and a chocolate and cream coach on a length of track. There was also a 'signal box' which had all the publicity material and more importantly was issuing the tickets giving access to the footplate - GBP2 for an adult. Also one could visit the coach, sit and be served with refreshments - genuine Cornish cream tea? Many of the younger visitors to the footplate were given the opportunity to sound the whistle - she was in steam! Unfortunately there was so much scaffolding around her - providing sloping walkways to the footplate, as well as fencing all around her and the coach - that it was not possible to get any decent photos. I am sure there must be some good pictures of the event on the Internet somewhere. I will leave someone who has more time in front of their computer to find the sites! I looked carefully at the ground all around her and as far as I could tell there was no subsidence into the river. I guess the builders of the underground structure must have realised that the city would do something like put two hundred tons of railway on their structure one day!!
