Hey all,

The Christmas Bird Count conducted by the Okatibbee Creek Audubon Society
for Lauderdale County will be 1/2/2017.  We will have a pre-planning
meeting this Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn
here in Meridian.  Maps and forms will be available.  If you plan to count
and can't make this meeting please contact me.  I'll arrange to get forms
to you.

Tally meeting will be at Johnson Blueberry Farm in Suqualena.  Potluck
dinner at 6. Out of towners and new participants do not have to bring
anything.  Robin has invited anyone to come earlier if they are through
counting and want to relax a bit. We'll discuss meal planning at the
Tuesday meeting too.

I plan to do a little pre count scouting on 12/26 and 27th, if anyone wants
to join me.

Our count area is centered at the intersection of Dogwood Lake Road and Hwy
493 just north of Meridian and encompasses Okatibbee Reservoir, circles
over and takes in the town of Marion and south to take in downtown Meridian
just north of I-20 then west up Hwy 19 back to Okatibbee.  The downtown and
southeastern portion of the count area has been under counted for the past
few years. I'm not pushing these areas but if anyone wants to take a pass
through 22nd Ave and count pigeons, it won't be a bad thing.

Contact me if you have any questions.

After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality,
and so on - have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently
wear - what remains? Nature remains.
