Hey all, A lot of wind burned folks counted 90 species this past Friday here in Lauderdale county. Nothing really unusual. 27 White pelicans, 1 immature bald eagle, 1 Horned grebe were nice as well as 3 Northern harriers. One Red-breasted merganser was a treat as well. A House wren was the only new bird added to the count. Big no shows were Wood duck and Wild turkey. There were not great numbers of any one species except Am. crow 1111. Thanks to those here who participated and a special thanks to the out-of -towners who came and lent their ears and eyes. The complete list is on the CBC website MSLC count circle. Birded Dalewood Lake today. There was a pair of Common loons off Cemetery Point and an Osprey. Watched both eating fish. Then found a Horned grebe hanging around with some Buffleheads on the lower end. At Lake Tom Bailey, there were a couple of DC cormorants braving the wind and a few Ruddy ducks. Thanks, Nancy Donald Meridian, MS After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on -- have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear -- what remains? Nature remains. -Walt Whitman, poet (1819-18
