Hi All,

I rang Alice Springs Paint Supplies  this week and got some info about outdoor concrete paint. They recommended a two-pack paint (comes in two separate tins and is mixed before application) and these are available as water or solvent based paints. They stock Dulux brand and recommend:

-          Durebuild – solvent based – less durable – cheaper $165/4L, also available in 15L tin

-          Luxepoxy ECO2 – water based therefore slightly easier to use – more durable – more expensive $395/10L

I’m not sure why they said the water based paint was more expensive since it’s actually cheaper compared to the price for the 4L tin of the solvent based type so it doesn’t seem like there’s a great difference.  They did indicate that price does vary depending on the colour that’s chosen and that the darker colours can get chalkier quicker due to heat absorption over time.

Anyway, just thought I’d start the ball rolling on getting the track painted. Other things we’ll have to think about are cleaning the concrete prior to application, curing time required and making sure it doesn’t rain soon after.

Cheers

Lisa
