Hi,

No, you can use a Mac in school perfectly well. You just have to find the right
apps to suit what you need. I don't know where you heard that you'll need to
use Jaws, and only Jaws, but I don't feel that that is true. I'm doing quite
well with just my Mac, and the only time that I use my Windows PC is if I need
to write something with page numbers, and that is only because I have yet to
purchase iWork. TextEdit does things like double spacing, and changing fonts,
so as far as writing, TextEdit is a good app, aside from not being able to put
in page numbers.
In short, if you want to use a Mac, and if you learn the Mac, you won't have
any problems using a Mac in university.
