You probably already thought of this, but it really sounds as though you are touching the trackpad while typing...

Hi Joel;

If you are running snow leopard, there is only one thing I can think of that might be giving you this type of problem. in vo utility, under navigation, set mouse cursor to ignores voiceover cursor and that should fix it.

otherly, make sure that you are not interacting and make sure that quick nav is turned off.

Let us know if you need more help and how it goes.

Nice to see you here.

Hi all,

I have had my mbp for two weeks now and I mostly love it. there is one huge problem I am having.

edit wndows. like in textedit or mail or Pages all seem to lose focus or to wrap to the top of the window while I type.

I ca onl think this is a VO issue or my configuration it can't possibly be normal functionality. sometimes it seems to happen at the end of pages, where instead of running to a new line, the insertion point goes to the top of the page. other times the window loses focus and goes to a menu option.

It is inconsistent. It has not happened in this mesage as of yet.

I thought I was hitting the trackpad, but that is not the case.

any help would be appreciated.

I think the Mac world is more similar than different and I ave greatly enjoyed the challenge of te past days.

thanks,

Joel

RussellAgreed! It is easy to accidentally turn it on!

we need a configuration option to disable quick nav.

You're welcome Carlene. I've had quick nav turn on accidentally... not sure how it happened, but I didn't intentionally turn it on, and after fighting with the problems you mentioned in Mail, checked the quick nav keys only to find that they were turned on.

Thanks,

Russell

Thanks Russell. I seldom use QuickNav, but thanks for the suggestion. It's good to know that the problem exists when tabbing between the panes as well.

Hi Carlene,

I use the preview pane and tab from the message table into the message content, and sometimes run into this. I end up in the header area and can't get out, so have to close mail and open it again. I did notice that one time when this happened, I had turned on quick Nav in Safari and forgot to turn it back off, so this was causing the problem. Something to check when you encounter this next time.

Hi all:

I have recently encountered an ongoing problem when viewing mail. It seems as though the cursor jumps all over the place instead of going from the preview pain to the message body when using vo/j. I might end up in status, headers, or scroll area. It's getting quite annoying. I have all of the cursors following each other except that the mouse cursor ignores the Voiceover cursor. That's the way I've had it for a long time, longer than the problem has existed. It seems as though the problem is getting worse every day. Any ideas? thanks.>
