Hi Stacey and welcome to the list.

Some of us here on the list have used the MAC for years and some have
baught a MAC in the last year, so there is a full range of users
here.

You can learn a lot about the MAC by checking out the growing list of
guides and links at,
www.icanworkthisthing.com
under
MAC with Voiceover and just by hanging out here and picking up the
traffic.

I was a DOS and then Windows user, using both JFW and Window-eyes. I
have been using the MAC for nearly 4 years now and I am amazed at how
well it works for me.

Merry Christmas.

Subject: [macvoiceover] Good news about iTunes and .m3u playlists

Quite a while back, when iTunes was largely inaccessible without a
lot of
roundabout maneuvering, I remember wondering if one could use a
manually
written .m3u playlist or one made in vlc. As I recall iTunes didn't
handle
the m3u playlists at the time; I could be wrong about this but i
was so
desperate to do something accessible about playlists that I'm sure
I tried
this and failed. Anyway, I'm right now working on a project that
involves
.m3u playlists and I had planned to automatically use vlc instead
of
iTunes. However, I tried it with iTunes and found that the files in
the
playlist were played and iTunes even said something about
processing the
files for the playlist. So, while I realize that creating and
building
playlists isn't nearly so cumbersome as it used to be with iTunes,
if you
have m3u playlists that ou've wanted to use, it appears that you
can now
do so. Just thought people might be interested in knowing this.
