Hey Patrick & all,

Well, I'm feeling a bit foolish! Patrick, your suggestions worked like a charm! I changed the view to single page, and after pressing command right arrow, pressing VO A read the page very nicely indeed! <grin>

Thanks to all for your help... be patient with me, k? <smile>

Hey Patrick,

Actually, no, I wasn't using VO A! <sheepish grin> Mine was set on single page continuous. I'll change it to single page, and try using said keystroke! <grin>

Thanks,

Russell

Hello Russell and all:

Shhh, that word must not be uttered (grin).

OK, something really basic which I know you know already though I have to mention it to put my conscience to rest. You are using vo + A to read the contents of a page in preview yes? So, when you land on the content of the page you want to read you are pressing vo + A to read the page?

Another question. If you go to your view menu in preview and you go to PDF display, what is checked? If single page is not checked, try checking it and see if your results improve.

Hopefully this information will prove useful. Let us know.

Hi Marty,

Well, I'm having quite a few problems with PDFs here. There's an iMac user's manual that came with my system. I can use command right arrow to move to the next page, but the text won't read unless i press VO left arrow, and then VO right arrow. Then, sometimes I'll receive an error message that there was a problem, and Preview needs to close, and I have a choice to "Send report to Apple". This is beginning to resemble another OS that we won't mention here! <grin> Okay, okay, before you guys jump all over me, I was just kidding... sort of! <smile>

Hi Russell, try going to the outline table, and finding what you want, and interacting with the table, then vo left arrowing to the text, and see if it reads that way. Command right and left arrows, will take you to the next and previous pages.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to read the VO Getting Started manual in PDF format. I don't want to read the document from start to finish, but rather, to go to pages that are relevant to what I'm doing at the time. So, I look at the table of contents, find the page I want to go to, press command option G and then type in the page number and press return. I then find it difficult to locate the document. Sometimes I VO right or left arrow and sometimes magically land in the document on the page I chose, but other times I'm placed in the document, but at the beginning. Sometimes I need to tab or shift tab to find the text of the document.

When I do find the page I want, I read for a bit and then it gets to the end of the page, and I can't figure out how to move to the next page, so I end up back in the table of contents. Does anyone have any tips to make reading PDF files a bit easier?

Thanks,

Russell
