That may be the source of your 'busy' problems.
apparently, Yosemite is using up to 2Gb of the RAM, so with a few other 
Applications running, including VO, you will be overloading the RAM and having 
to use what is called VM or virtual memory which is on the Hard disc. This 
involves a backwards and forwards transfer of data which keeps the processors 
'busy'.
It is recommended to have a minimum of 4GB of RAM, you only have 2 !
If you can, get it increased to as much as your machine is capable of loading 
or you will continue to experience this issue.
It should not be too expensive and will make your machine a better friend.
