To interact with something, swipe right with two fingers. Swipe left with two
fingers to stop interacting.

Turn on VO keyboard help with control+option+k and practice gestures on the
trackpad to hear their functions. Use combinations of 1, 2, or 3 fingers and
single, double, or triple tapping. Move up, down, left, or right with 1, 2, or
3 fingers. There is also a scrubbing gesture.

Chapter 11 of the VoiceOver getting started manual describes the gestures as
well.
