Thinking back on Voiceover use, it seems like individual apps are working way
better and require fewer work arounds, like does anyone remember what it took
to create a document with a header and a table in 2011? Or needing to run a
script to change a table name in Numbers?
What I’m finding now is a shift towards a much more visual computer experience,
with photos and memes being the norm for communications, and WYSIWYG drag and
drop layout programs for websites. I’m also finding that things like on line
shopping take a different and deeper level of effort.
I’m also finding a level of expectation to maintain multiple accounts and
juggle multiple profiles, and that I don’t always know what profile I’m working
under until I go back to find something I was working on.
I’m not finding all of this to be Mac or Voiceover specific, I don’t know what
is happening in the Windows world with Jaws or NVDA, and I’ve never set foot in
the Android world, but my 15 year old son is living in a digital world and it
seems pretty complicated, and my wife, who is sighted and pretty savvy, spends
a lot of time with her church admin sorting out things like email marketing and
websites and streaming platforms because, you know anyone can do this these
days, instead of how you used to hire a web developer or marketing company that
would handle this for you with their expertise and training.
Ok, rant over.

It is getting so that you need to be the king or queen of work around with
the mac and it should not be this way. Is there not another way to compute?

Completely understand, didn’t mean to minimize your experience, I’m thinking

It looks like a lot of the messages are back but it’s selective. Many or
not. The panic attack is because I have literally tons of messages that are
very important that I need to keep information for. At least I got a few of
them back. I’ll have to keep working at this.

Awww. I hope you don’t have a panic attack, it’s just not worth it! Save
your panic attacks for things like … well. Insert really bad thing here. I
don’t want to jinx you. Anyway, no guarantees. I once deleted the Mail app
from my iPhone, and that was hell on wheels for a while, but I’ve never
done this and to be honest I don’t use Mac Mail much because I’m lazy and
just do stuff on my phone with a keyboard…

I’m going to try that as soon as I get a break from work. And hopefully
before I have a straight up panic attack. Thanks for your help Mark and
quick response, I appreciate it! Apparently I didn’t know I could do that
either and with voiceover jumping around like it was I had no idea which
folder I was in.

Can you recover them from Trash on the dock, the main trash, not the
trash folder in Mail? I didn’t even know you could delete the inbox
folder, but the contents of it might be in the main trash.

Hi folks,
I was on my Mac and deleted what I thought was the trash folder but
turns out it was the inbox. All of my messages are gone from my phone
and Mac and I don’t see them in the trash folder anymore. Is there a
way to recover these? The trash folder still has all of my messages
from yesterday and before but nothing from the inbox that was just
deleted. I really hope someone here can help me, there was a ton of
messages that I need to get access to. I’m seeing that voiceover focus
definitely jumps around a lot when navigating through Mail and this
seems to be what happened.
