Are you interacting with each of those individual folders? Even if you use VO-J
to jump between mailbox list and messages list, if you’re not interacted with
the mailbox folder you want, it jumps you back to the messages list of the last
folder you interacted with. I hope that makes sense.

I don’t want to jinx you. Anyway, no guarantees. I once deleted the Mail
app from my iPhone, and that was hell on wheels for a while, but I’ve
never done this and to be honest I don’t use Mac Mail much because I’m
lazy and just do stuff on my phone with a keyboard…
