this is as good as you can do. Positional audio is for good stereo or
headphones. It works with the sounds to let you know a bit abou where
things are on the screen.

Hi David. I have link tones turned on in the verbosity settings, but when I
uncheck sounds in row 6 of the VoiceOver utilities menu the link tone does
not play. There is a checkbox next to this called Enable positional audio.
I can check and uncheck it and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Am I still missing something, or is this as good as I can do?

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do except to trade off verbosity in
its choices. It won't take all the sounds away but if the only item there
you have set to play tone for is links, at least some of them will be gone.

I think the answer is no, but you guys will know. When I uncheck sounds in
the VoiceOver utility, all the sounds of navigating over blank lines etc.
disappear. I don't see a place where I can have certain sounds like the
sounds for links checked while having others unchecked. Am I missing
something?
