[macvoiceover] Automator

I'm trying to learn how to use automator and am completely befuddled.
I can choose an action (say getFilesInFolders) and add it to a workflow, but
how do I choose the inputs (i.e. which files/folders to work on).
As a simple application, I'd like to setup a dropbox type folder which will
convert whatever text file is dropped into it into spoken audio. So, I
assume I'd chain together the getFilesInFolders action with the
convertTextToAudio. However, how do I choose which files/folders apply?
