Hi EN and Al, sorry for getting back to you guys so late. Ian, please never
apologize for asking lots of questions. If we don’t ask each other questions
how will we solve the problem.
As per your suggestions and my own trouble shooting I tried the following.
I unchecked notes from the iCloud list, restarted the computer, refreshed both
the notes app on the iPhone and iMac and nothing changed. I checked the Notes
app again and still no luck. I went into the folder on my iMac and tried
copying and pasting first the folders, and then individual notes. No luck. The
copy and paste options were deemed. I tried moving the folder on the iMac but
again it would not allow me. I made sure I was connected to Wi-Fi, on the same
network for both my iPhone and iMac just in case. By this time I was so
frustrated, and very very sad, my head was hurting me and it was 4:30 in the
afternoon. I walked away from the computer and went and laid down in hopes to
catch a nap to calm myself down. I had a very hard time falling asleep because
all I kept on thinking about was what has happened. I did manage eventually to
shut my eyes and not think for approximately an hour. I woke up and went back
straight to the computer. I went into the folder in question and managed to
move one of the notes into the folder called on my iMac. Success! The note
moved. I selected all the notes and moved them to that location. Once the
folder in the iCloud section on the Notes app was empty I deleted the folder.
I created a new folder in the iCloud section again called, the Septuagint
Bible. I checked on my iPhone and the new folder appeared. I moved one of the
notes from the on my iMac folder into the new folder and it moved. Of course
then I proceeded to move all the notes into the new folder. Success! The folder
and all its notes now appear on the iPhone. I have no idea what caused this and
what happened, I am baffled. Even though I had to do an extra step which pains
me and I spent almost all day on this, in the end the problem is resolved. I
wish I knew what caused this so that it doesn’t happen again thank the good
Lord my work did not go to waste, I am still baffled but at least I can
continue on with my project.
Thank you very much for all your help. I really hope this doesn’t happen again.

The Notes app is indeed a good option for working on both machines.
Sorry for asking so many questions in troubleshooting, but this is a curious
situation.
Did anythign happen to your other Notes folders? If they are still on your
phone that indicates the problem is specific to your septuagint folder. You
can try disconnecting Notes from Icloud and then reconnecting it, that might
push the folders back to your iPone.
You could also try creating a new Notes folder on your Mac and copying your
folders to it, the new folder may show up on your iPhone.
The reason I asked about the Greek or English translation was that I’d be
rather helpless trying to provide resources in Greek, but I’m pretty familiar
with the app options for English translations. I do like your plan to make a
personal copy, I have that with one of my translations that I use a bunch,
I’ve got different marks and notes that mean something to me but not to
anyone else.
I also like your plan to have a local copy of your preferred translation that
doesn’t rely on the Internet.
Peace,
Ian

hi Ian,
up the notes app. I waited while the notes app updated it self. I checked
and the folder is there with all the notes. I was relieved that all my work
did not go to waist. However, even though I restarted the notes app both on
my iPhone and iMac, the folders and notes are no where to be found on my
iPhone. I did check the notes folder and the notes are not there. Now i’m
even more baffled, I started this project on the iPhone, and the project
seems to be saved on the iMac which is great, but no matter what I do I
can’t get it to download onto the iPhone.
Any ideas, how i can get the folder and notes to download back on to the
iPhone? The goal is to have these very important notes both on my iPhone and
iMac hense why I decided to use the notes app for this project.
As per your questions, sorry i’m not sure what you are asking me. As I said
the phone or the mac doesn’t read ancient Greek. However even if it did, it
is very hard to understand. The English version is much more comprehensible
to me, even though I am very fluent in modern Greek. I can understand quite
a bit of the original Greek text but not all of it, so I lose the meaning of
what i’m reading. Also like i said sinve voiceover doesn’t read the ancient
Greek it’s useless to me. The website i’m coppying from offers both the
English and Greek.
The reason i’m doing this, is for personal reading. I would like to have my
own copy of the septuagint bible on my iPhone and iMac so that i can read
off line at my own leasure without the internet. also the layout of the
iPhone and iMac makes reading easier for me as a blind user.

If you have the Notes app set to synch to your Mac through iCloud you can
check thre. You can aslo check the folder in Notes on your iPHone called
All Notes. If the notes are tehre but the folder structure disappeared the
notes will likely be in there.
A couple follow up questions on your project, are you looking for an
English translation of the Septuagint, Or one using Greek characters? In
seminary I got a waver from biblical languages because at that time we
couldn’t make my computer speak Greek or Hebrew, but that was 20 years ago
and a lot has changed since then

Hi everybody, the strangest thing happened to me. I wonder if anybody has
some thoughts on this situation.
Some of you may remember that IM of a Greek background. In the orthodox
Greek church we read the septuagint bible. I will not get into the reasons
or debates about why we read this Bible etc.
This email is not to debate religion but something strange that happened
to me.
The Ancient Greek language is very difficult to understand, unless you
have studied the ancient Greek language academically in depth the average
Greek person cannot understand the ancient Greek language.
Also voiceover cannot read the ancient Greek language properly. On the Mac
the Greek voice is broken. However on the iPhone the Greek voice still
works for reading modern Greek. As I said above I do not understand
ancient Greek. I was given a website that has the English translation of
the septuagint bible. I decided I would take on a huge project of copying
all the text of the Bible onto my iPhone. I started this project on
Saturday night.
I would go to the website and click Genesis, chapter 1, I would flick
right until I heard the text of page One , As soon as voiceover would
begin to speak the text of Genesis, chapter 1, page 1, I would triple top
four times so that voiceover could copy the last spoken text.
I went into the Notes app and created a folder, and named it, the
Septuagint Bible English.
I went into that folder, and created another folder called Genesis.
I went into the folder called Genesis and created a new note, I called it
chapter 1.
I pasted the text that was in the voiceover clipboard into this new note
called chapter 1. When I was done with the whole chapter I clicked done.
I clicked the back button and went back to the folder called Genesis, and
there I saw my first note called chapter 1. I created the next note of
course called chapter 2. I went back-and-forth between Safari and the
notes app creating these notes. As I said above I started this on Saturday
night. I continued doing this all day yesterday and even this morning.
Up until about an hour ago in my notes app I had the folder called the
Septuagint Bible English, in that folder I had another folder called
Genesis, and in the folder called Genesis I had 35 notes. Of course that
means 35 chapters. As I begin to create the 36th chapter the notes app
crashed and to my horror everything has disappeared. There is no such
folders in my app, no notes, everything has disappeared as if I did not
start this project on Saturday. Does anybody have any idea what happened?
Of course my next question is there anyway to recover all this work that I
did?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you in advance for any thoughts,
ideas, and or help.
