I agree.  unless you know of bugs or want to wait a bit to see if there are 
such as in the case with iOS and osx mavericks, updating is a requirement of 
the life cycle and is ignored at your peril.  If you read the security 
reference supplied with each update, there is always one new exploit being 
killed off in this manner.  Unlike other operating systems, apple takes care of 
its own but the cost of ownership is that you take care of the os and the apps 
for which you are responsible to maintain on your system.
