I assume you are not using IMAP for retrieving email?

If this is true, I suggest creating a Gmail account to which you can copy the
messages from your existing account. With IMAP access, emails are retained on
the server side, so saving and /or restoring messages is not an issue.
Once the messages are copied to the Gmail account, you can simply copy them
back when you've setup the main account and Gmail account on the new computer.

There are other ways of doing this, but I'm simply sharing one technique that
I've found useful.

Hello Group,

I have a 2010 MacBook Air and I am giving it to my 19 year old nephew for hard
labor. I have ordered a new MacBook Air 11 inch and only want my e-mails from
the older Air. How is the most efficient way to accomplish this? The older
machine is running Snow Leopard. Thanks again for any help.************
