I have never seen that work. If you press command F5 with out the FN key when
a Mac is first unboxed you adjust the brightness.

Once booted then you can set the function key state under the keyboard settings
in preferences but unless you’ve done that ahead of time the FN keys will have
very different effects since they adjust machine characteristics like volume,
brightness and so forth.

That's odd. I just hit command f5 not fn comand f5 when starting the mac for
the very first time. Then after the set up happened I then changed it using
the system prefs.

And also remember that when an Apple first boots it does not have the F keys
in normal mode so also press the fn key which is the lower left most key.

So command, fn, F5.

Or the button left of the space bar, the button left at the end of the row
and F5.

Hope that helps.

Hello,

Finally I was able to plug it in. The problem now is that it doesn't talk.
I pressed F5, but it keeps silent. What should I do? It asked me for a
password and I entered one.
