I always thought that people liked roller coasters, though, because
they felt that they were cheating death.
____
People who like roller coasters have an ability to relinquish some
measure of personal control over their environment, and also take
pleasure in the risk of trust. Roller coaster riding is part of an
attitude toward the world. In other words, I would argue that liking
roller coasters is symptomatic of surrendering to something rather than
cheating something.
