ON the one hand, it is truly amazing how able some people are at texting with phones, palms etc. On the other hand [sometimes, on both] there is actually a new syndrome ['texter's thumbs'] that is being seen more and more by doctors. Hours and hours of tapping out silly coded messages on miniature keyboards is probably NOT what our hands were made for.

The population is aging (or part of it is), yet keypads and screens are getting smaller. It occurred to me, in an Einsteinian moment, that a fortune could be made by producing LARGER keypads for older folk, of whom there would soon be billions. I was explaining this to my son last summer. He whipped out a device about the size of an old British shilling, and said to it 'Sally's* cell phone.' Whereupon, it began to 'dial' the cell phone in question.

I'm still looking for the next buzzworthy thing.
