The memos state that Saddam was not a threat; his WMDs were
insignificant. Nothing would have happened.

NOTHING would have happened? Surely something would have happened
eventually. What with time and all...
Not that what did happen was the best option here.
Do you think he would have allowed for a peaceful succession to one of
his sons, died in (some other kind of) coup, won the Booker Prize for
his ghostwritten novels?
Given how terrible the twenty-first century has been so far, how else
might it have played out?
