There's no easy way out it seems.
No, there's not. There's even a cost to breathing -- it wears out your
lungs and it contributes to the CO2 in the atmosphere thus contributing to
global warming which makes you pant and spew forth even more CO2. If all
creatures would just stop breathing (that's acting locally), we could save
this planet (that's thinking globally).
Instead of concentrating on developing the most efficient furnaces and air
conditioners, I suggest we concentrate on developing the most efficient use
of our totally free source of energy, the sun. If we could just find some
way of controlling the rotational speed of the earth and rotating it
longitudinally as well as latitudinally, we could make the whole earth a
semi-tropical paradise with no need for heating or cooling. I think if
Boeing and AirBus got together, they could develop jet engines large enough
to accomplish this goal.
