I understand Stan to mean that just as the Arabs have persecuted the Christians in Lebanon so have the Arabs persecuted the Israelis in the ME. In both cases the persecuted are victims of the irrational animosity of the Arabs toward all who are not Arab. Gabriel makes this point repeatedly. Her sweeping conflation of "Arab" Muslim" and "radical Islamists" got her into trouble with the students at Queens. A recent (July 26, 2006) interview with her on CNN is here. Notice her unique explanation for how radical islamists have "bred" themselves (through multiple marriages) into winning the political process! An interesting rhetorical ploy for "othering" - besides all the other faults of these radicals, they don't have the same (natural/normal/biblical) sexual values (that we/americans do). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIy2L5uI9P8 ) -----Original Message----- From: lit-ideas-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:lit-ideas-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Paul Stone Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2006 2:47 PM To: lit-ideas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [lit-ideas] Re: Brigette Gabriel again supporting Israel JE: (re-post) >SS>Brigette Gabriel's interview [below] points to the fact that Arabs >SS>have behaved identically with Christians in Lebanon. I have NO idea what Stan was going for in this paragraph. p ########## Paul Stone pas@xxxxxxxx Kingsville, ON, Canada ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
