[liblouis-liblouisxml] writing braille tables, backtranslation and other questions

Hi,

When I try

lou_translate -b fr-fr-g1.utb

and type

\\

(so a backslash)

I get back:  \12567/
When looking at fr-fr-g1.utb and its includes, I don't see where that translation comes from.
The reason I ask is that this same thing pops up with my initial cut at Vietnamese 6 dot table. In it I have a rule: 

uplow Ưư 1256

But instead I get \12567/

Any hints how to get around this?
Btw. what are the file extensions, .uti, .ctb, .utb? I assume .dis stands for display...
