Hello, Philippe !

I should have a big problem to decide about a favorite !!!!
This the advantage of such a gallery, and such good friends as you ;-)
About your asking, every picture is allways preceded by a short chat, asking for permission, and often is the source of a larger conversation. In the case of "Man at work", he was a Russian inmigrant I knew in a port in Spain. Despite to have not a very legal situation, he gave me his name, we had a chat more than an hour, and he let me take a lot of pictures. Thanks to him.

and what energes Marc is much more than surreptitious "street shooting"... your work is glorious, and you do make a very strong case for your point of view, that color is part of the soul....

perhaps more later,
Steve

And thank to you, Philippe, your feedback is invaluable.

What a wonderful gallery of portraits - a pure motley of souls inside.
Very impressive artistic and compassionate work you're showing us here compiled. How do you manage to do that? I mean, getting permission from total strangers to pose for you, apparently, and conveying this sense of getting "caught" in their very essence as human beings.
Great work.These are masterpieces:

Ted,

A fine sentence, but I only can disagree with it.
BTW, I think the B&W is often use as an easy way to achieve a more dramatic result.

Hi Dave,
Yes it’s mine and it’s this way:
“When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes.
But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls!”
Mine for a great number of years.
Thanks for asking and your compliment. J

Hey Ted,
Did you coin this phrase? "If you're photographing in color you show the color of their clothes - if you use black & white, you will show the color of their soul"
If you did, good one. If not, do you know who did?
Dave
