Good Morning, Xavier! > These guys on bikes are racing fast and given the angle this chap was, > given I'm a motorcyclist too, I can tell _he_was_fast_ in that turn !! Depending on the engine size (nothing bigger than 250ccc), they generally take the corners between 50 & 70kpg. Faster in the straight-away. > So you did good... as usual :) Thank you, my friend. > It's the second time you showed an image from that OM-D and it strikes > me how contrasty it is compared to your other pictures from the E3. Is > this you choice or is it an artefact of the sensor? The first shot was a bit contrasty. The image needed lightening, and then the contrast went much too flat. So, I used GIMP, to increase the contrast a bit, but I think I went too far. The second shot, is just the way it came out. My skill level does not allow sharpening/contrast adjustment, etc., in partial images. With me, it's all or nothing! And, as you can see, the contrast in the background is rather flat. Sorry, no skill here. Just an image the way it was. Is that an artifact of the OM-D's sensor? I don't know, but I doubt it, as other shots were rather flat, on the same day. Still, I liked the effect, for it really makes the rider stand out! in an otherwise busy background! Here are a couple more shots, which show the tracking problem with the OM-D. http://www.furnfeather.net/Temps/Stake_2011-13.html The top shot was taken in 2011, with the E3, and shows a spill in progress. The lower shot shows a spill, taken this year with the OM-D. The tracking would not lock focus until the bike & rider were almost at a standstill, as you can tell by the amount of snow spray coming from the front fender. Both were taken using their focus tracking modes. There is much to recommend the OM-D, for almost every kind of photography. But their decision to use contrast AF (as done with most live-view - ie: P&S - cameras) rather than the superior phase detection AF, was not the best, I fear. It may have had to do with timing to market, or with cost. I'm not sure. But it did give me reason to wait for the "pro" model, due this fall. > Have a sunny day ! Thanks, I will! It's just after dawn, the sky is still pink, and there's hardly a cloud to be seen! It's -6C, but we are expecting a dump of snow, later this afternoon. The mild temperatures mean that Ice Racing was canceled, last weekend, due to unsafe ice condition. It now appears that the one weekend will be the entire season, for the year!
