Bill,

I did look at the rubber seals. Seems fine so far of course will really know
only after I finished this film. Definitely a lot easier to load than my M2.
I love the size mainly cos' it' close to a M body. I am using 35 & 50 cron and
a 50 Lux at Schmidt Mkting (local Leica service) to try and lubricate the
focusing ring.

Can't wait to try out the lux on this body. If this R4S is fine, I may find
myself a R7 or R6.2 next time. AE here I come!!! hah! Bro, u still using the
R4 n R4S? My serial no. is nice... 16466666.

Dave,

I had an R4S for about 15 years and it served me very well.

With a 24mm, a 50mm and a 35-70 zoom for slides, it went with me everywhere.
After a few years, I got infected with "feature-itis" and added an R4 because
it had the Program Mode, which I enjoyed then and still do with my R9. All
either camera ever needed was dusting now and then and fresh batteries; they
seemed to be bulletproof, except for one problem, on which camera I can't
remember.

The foam rubber light seals surrounding the window that lets you see the film
canister became aged and when I was shooting fast, really leaning into the
rewind lever, it seemed to torque the film cannister a bit and light would leak
in and spoil a few frames. I still recall my dismay at the red streaks in some
of the pictures I made of the coast at Point Reyes National Seashore. Replacing
the spongy, foam rubber material fixed the problem. You may want to check the
seals on your R4S.

Have fun,

Bill

Just bought a R4S from the same guy I bought the 35 n 50 Summicron. Not the
mintiest copy but good enough and paid abt 300 USD.

Anything I sure know about this body? Some dust on the viewfinder but nothing
serious. Everything seems to work ok.

Will take some pics soon. Wanted a body with Aperture Exposure to go with my
MP. The R series is small enough and matches my R lens. I can carry both the
R4S and the MP in my Billingham L2 bag.

Can't wait to try out the camera. Just need to wait for my wife to sleep
first. :)
