Fred,

Thanks. No, the camera is definitely *on,* freshly switched on, as evidenced by the fact that after the first image is taken with an EV number entered and displayed, additional images can be made, but access to EV settings cannot be accomplished nor is there any indication of EV following those two letters.

It is then not plain whether any EV adjustment is in effect. If I then turn off the camera, and turn it back on, the previously set EV adjustment does appear, and can be adjusted, but the indication and ability to change it only lasts for one more exposure.

It is as if the EV setting lever, and the EV setting indication (+0.5, -1.0, etc., not the letters EV), becomes non-functional after the first exposure after turn on.

There has been another strange behavior as well: with the camera turned off, the LCD display stays on. Popping the battery out and reinserting it seems to clear what ever ails the camera. I fear I am seeing signs of senility in my R9, forgetting what it is supposed to be doing!

Last night I remembered that some time ago many ills were attributed to poor electrical connection between the DMR and the camera; I'll explore that today, as well as have a heart to heart talk with my dealer.

Thanks again,

All the best,

Bill

Hello Bill,

Are you sure you have switched on the camera by slightly touching the
releasebuttom as well??
This seem to be the 'problem' I think. I have checked this on my DM- R.....

Once I went back to my Leica-dealer with my M6 camera because I believed the
camera was broken:
I just forgot to switch on the camera by putting the shutterdial in right
position (and that after 20 years of professional
use of M-Leica's......;-))

HTH kind regards Fred Hess

Subject: [LRflex] DNR EV problem

Hi all,

My DMR has begun to act strangely: After I switch it on, I can set
the EV to plus or minus any amount within the bounds, but after the
first exposure, I can no longer set the EV.

In fact there is no EV display of any kind, other than the letters
"EV." If I restart the DMR, the setting I previously made shows up,
but after another exposure, EV can no longer be set

I have replaced batteries, let the camera sit without power (no
battery installed) for an hour, and reinstalled firmware v. 1.3, all
to no avail. Switching modes to JPEG, etc. makes no difference. All
else "seems" normal.

What am I missing? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Bill
