FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - PLEASE DISSEMINATE WIDELY
Latest Sprague River forecasts indicate the river will reach flood stage in
Beatty at 0700 Friday, 10 February. It will peak at 10.3' Saturday evening, and
drop below flood stage early Monday morning. This level is considerably higher
than original forecasts.
The Incident Management Team is evaluating homes and structures in the Sprague
River Valley between Chiloquin and Bly to determine specific needs.
The Williamson River is rising as well, but the forecast does not indicate it
will reach flood stage. The IMT is monitoring it closely.
Residents and those traveling in the vicinity should pay close attention to
road conditions. High water has been flagged in several locations so far: MP23
on Sprague River Road, and the bridge over the Sprague River on Campbell Road.
Remember, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN - You should never drive through flood
waters.
Sand and sandbags are available to the public at the Chiloquin Fire Station in
downtown Chiloquin, at Chiloquin Fire Station 3 on Sprague River Road, at the
Sprague River Community Center, and at the Bly Fire Station. Residents with
concerns should call their local fire department - for Chiloquin area, contact
