I would not recommend Word as first choice, and anybody who has Win 3.1
or better should have WordPad. Also, one can use Microsoft WordViewer 97,
which can be gotten from Microsoft, to read but not edit doc files,
without running any macros. On the other hand, note that Word itself has
a setting [for example in Word 97] Tools>Options>General>Macro Virus
Protection, which warns if there is a macro in the document and gives you
a choice of whether to open it with the macro activated or not. I prefer
my text editor of choice, which is NoteTab Lite.
