Frank -

Glad that you got back OK! G-DRFC is an ATR 42-320 operated by
Blue Islands. That was one heavy landing...

All
Just got back from a week in Jersey. Weather fairly good. did a
lot of travelling around the island.
For the first time since using digital (10 years ago) actually ran
out of memory cards, filled the 1gb still and the 8gb video, just
when I wanted to video the take off and landings.
Unfortunately, yesterday's flight home was delayed see attached .
I was scheduled for 1205, via BA2773 to Gatwick, actually took off
1830 BA2775.
Turnaround's was done at maximum speed.
The unfortunate pilot of the Islander, fighting a cross wind,
landed heavily on runway 27, on the left main. Managed to taxi to
taxiway D, when the main collapsed.
This was about 0830, the runway was shut, the AC had to be dragged
clear of the runway, and runway repairs made. The runway was then
declared open at around 1530, there was much cheering. It was a
case of dump the suitcases in the kitchen, grab a cuppa and toast,
and straight into bed around 2200ish There where those who's
flights much earlier, had to wait until the evening until they
could get away. They had to return their duty free's, go back
through security and unbook, then rebook and return through
security.
