Right, it's accepted the Pirep now.

Thanks.

Next stage. Completed on line flight from Kirkbride to Andreas OK. Next
tried to file a Pirep, for which I have to log on. My password was rejected
but up popped a message, telling me it was wrong, so did I want to use the
password stored by Windows. I opted to do that and was immediately logged
on!

Having filled in the Pirep up popped a message telling me I can't file a
Pirep at the moment because I'm not an active pilot. Catch 22?

Meanwhile, I can get on line and connect to the server OK. Weird.

How did you gert it? I entered VID and put a tick in the Generate
New Passwords box. It immediately replied, with my old passwords !

Is there another request route?

I just had the same thing happen. Latest password rejected so I dug

They seem to be really screwed up right now.

I guess I've stayed on only to help JHB reach its required numbers.
I fly VFR from choice but significantly degraded hearing makes ATC
contact unattractive anyway. So, I've still been using IVAO when
convenient. In truth I've not been using FSX as much as in the
past, apart from for scenery testing.

I can see why they have occasional purges but they could benefit
from less navel gazing and try to see some of the situations from
the point of view of the users. Today and yesterday are good
examples. Having been provided with new passwords, IVAO seems to
have disowned them. In view of its length and complexity, surely
not justified, I've done a paste and copy, only to have it rejected
again. So, I've requested a new password and see it has just
arrived. I'll try again but am rapidly losing patience. No fault of
JHB but I'm always, anyway, put off by high falutin and Walter
Mitty type correspondence from IVAO, with much use of titles and
the sort of business speak that I thought retirement allowed me to
avoid.

We had at least 30 pilots ask to join JHB and a number never got
off the ground - they stayed at zero hours until deactivated. I'm
guessing that worldwide it must be a lot worse and so IVAO have to
run a purge to clear out a lot of dead wood.

It is a pity their system can't separate out those pilots with
zero activity and those with a good track record and give the
latter a little more leeway..

I hope that is a registration level and provided there is regular
activity from within the VA it would be allowed to continue. I
can understand why those who have opted out are coming from though.

The JHB Active list is now down to 19 pilots so we may get told to
stop operations. The minimum is 20 for IVAO to accept the airline
for operational status but I don't know if they check this.

Deactivated pilots have their hours frozen in the IVAO Pirep
system but they stay in the system for a while. The full JHB
listing shows
29 pilots (10
inactive) but I assume pilots eventually get removed because I
don't see Ernie's name in the list.

This raises the question of how many active IVAO members we have.
Remember we need to maintain a certain number to retain our
registration
with IVAO.

For the UK VFR flying that is what I mainly do, it's hardly worth
the hassle of flying IVAO and not seeing any other aircraft.

Weird! Feeling guilty about not having logged onto IVAO, since
their servers went bottoms up, I just tried to access the Pireps
page. As I expected, it wanted my VID and Website Password. My
VID hasn't changed but the multi character website password has;
three times. I wasn't surprised when the new password was
rejected, since it contains several characters that might be
either letter o or zero, I know not. The surprise came when
having rejected it I was immediately admitted.

I suppose there will be a similar performance next time I try to
log on for a flight.
