Jerry, That did it! Having failed so many times today I did it, jaws spoke everything in the systems tray and then I rebooted. When I came back, there it was! Thanks! Judith ----- Original Message ----- From: "G.W. Cox" <gwcox2@xxxxxxxxxxx>

You need to tab to the task bar, hold down the alt key and hit enter.
Then you will be in the task bar properties. Tab to notifications area
and tab to "hide inactive icons" and uncheck that with the space bar.
Tab to OK and hit enter.

Joseph, The only notification tab I came across is for the clock. I
tried
hitting enter and arrowing but got nothing more. Judith

Judith,
Press TAB until you see "Hide Taskbar icons" checkbox. Follow Alan's
instructions and press ENTER.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: systems tray

Hi everyone, I tried Joseph's method to get
jaws to announce the contents of my systems tray and it
worked-temporarily. I then tried Allen's solution but on my
notification
tab the only thing that was there was the clock so there waws nothing
to
uncheck and I just kept tabbing to hear a repeat of all the tabs. Is
there another way to get jaws to announce the content of my systems
tray?
I am working jaws 7.1 on a windows xp system. Thanks, Judith
