Hi Frank, I did install windows defender a while back, but it interfered with my Mcafee, so I uninstalled it. I do a defragmentation every 6 months. And a disk clean up every other week. Not only that, but I try to do a diskcheck on a regular basis too. I was pretty happy with the results that spybot gave me. I think I'm going to wait to install the Addaware until after I install Jaws 8 point o this week. Thanks for the info. Windows Defender is a free spyware removal tool from Microsoft which can be set to run automatically at a specified time each day or each week. Also when you install Spybot there is an optional component called "teatimer" which you should install. It gives you some real time monitoring of your system for spyware infestation. Sluggish system performance can be caused by many things but a spyware scan is the first place to start. After that a disk defragmentation is a good idea as well. Jaws seems to be hesitating in responding to my keystrokes. I'm Running Mcafee virus scan. I have my Mcafee firewall plus, privacy service, and span killer disabled, because it causes all sorts of problems with the computer. I do have a router with a premium firewall, and I also use the Windows firewall. A couple of people told me that it could be because of spyware. I did a Spyware scan by, PC Pitstop's Free Optimize scan. And it told me that I had a couple of cookies with tracking history. I was a little upset because it said it was free. And after I downloaded, agreed to terms and conditions, installed, and waited for the half an hour for the scan. I got to the last step to delete the two cookies, and it told me that I needed to purchase the software to eliminate them. I wasted a whole morning and got nowhere. Needless to say, Not happy here. Can anyone tell me of a "free" program that will detect spyware? And not only that, can anyone tell me why Jaws would be hesitant? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
