Tom started by explaining he would like to use Notepad for quick notes. If he installs Ed Sharp, creation of a shortcut keystroke is automatic and doesn't have the drawbacks of notepad.

He wants a key short cut, not a text editor. chrissy -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of G.W. Do a search on "sharp" here. http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/----- Original Message ----- From: "tom behler" <tombehler@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, October 24, 2009 5:01 PM Subject: Re: notepad saga continuedChrissy: Did that, but still no joy! Go to properties and assign the key combo, or else it will not recognize your input. chrissy -----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On BehalfOf tom behler Sent: Sunday, October 25, 2009 12:27 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: notepad saga continued I tried what you suggested below with notepad, because that's what I want to use for brief text files, and I still end up at "my computer", when I do the alt control N shortcut. In other words, I still end up at "my computer", not notepad. Well my notepad shortcut access saga continues, but I have made an unexpected discovery that may help diagnose the situation. Currently, according to HK detective, I now have no shortcuts on this machine for notepad. On a whim, I tried accessing notepad directly, and when I hit enter on the selection, it immediately went to "my computer" on the desktop. I then tried doing the same thing with Wordpad, and got the same result. Notepad and Wordpad are under accessories, so somehow, those applications are being directed to "my computer" and the desk top. Does anyone know how to correct this issue? If so, I think I actually may be on the way to solving this troubling problem. Thanks as always!
