You need Shockwave Player for sites that require Shockwave:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Shockwave
At the risk of stating the obvious, you don't need it for sites that
don't require Shockwave: i.e. most sites.
Don't know what the accessibility situation is with Shockwave.
