as in windows XP pro edition classic mode, pressing windows key will bring you the start menu list. press a letter u will put you to turn off computer. then the cursor will always on the first selection, that is stand by. I don't know is it the same to your computer but this is happen to me. stand by, button. (alt+s or just press the s key) turn off, button. (alt+u or just press the u key) restart, button. (alt+r or just press the r key) hibernate, button. (alt+h or just press the h key) cancel, button. (no keystroke) again, this is those keystroke that I'm using in windows XP pro edition with the classic start menu setting. hth A W ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blake Sinnett" <frequency660@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 04, 2006 13:07 Subject: Re: force shutdown Let's not forget about the folks who use the classic logon screen. I happen to be one of them. Anyways, windows key, u, r, enter for restart, or windows key, u, home s, enter to shut down. The reason for the home key is so that you'll be at the top of the list, and therefore the shut down will always be selected when you hit s. Without the home key, you'll never know if stand by or shut down is selected. ----------------------------------------------------- "frequency660@xxxxxxxxxxx" is a NetIBA certified email address. Depending on how your system is set up, it should shut down the computer. Don't hold the power button in or it will shut off the computer without properly shutting down windows, you do not want to do that.
