G'day All, I have this problem even using the latest update of Jaws 5. It also occurred with Version 4.51. I was originally using Millennium but after a major crash I re-partitioned my hard disk and did a fresh install of Windows 98SE which is my current O/S. The problem occurs with both these systems. I took the issue up with the Jaws agent's support service here in Australia and they haven't been able to solve it. They suggested tweaks such as running memory managers and creating my own virtual memory with the range 512/1024 mb. They said to make sure that there were at least 85% of system resources free at start-up which I did. However, none of this has helped. As an experiment, I uninstalled Jaws 5 and put 3.7U on and yes, the problem went away. The processor rarely goes above 10% usage even whilst connected to the Internet via my internal modem. What is the patch for 4.51? I haven't been told about it. I had it also, but if you're using 4.51, there is a patch to correct this issue. If you're using 5.0, this is the first case of the bogged down cpu usage I've seen, therefore, I don't have an answer. -------------------- E-mail/MSN: wil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I C Q: 95379501 -------------------- -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of MFurn Sent: Friday, February 13, 2004 10:30 AM To: jaws Subject: cpu usage lost jaws Question techies. I was looking at a web site , when my hard drive started something. Jaws went silent.. Using narrator, I saw that my cpu usage was at 100%. Now, not sure why, but in time it went back down and I could use a voice again. WindowEyes will work, but jaws not. Why is that? Stupid question. If one reaches 100% cpu usage, that will cause jaws not to work correct? thank you for all Mark F.enlightenings. -- To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
