Michael,
It may be a little longer process, but You can use the import and export
under the file menu on the tool bar when you have Out Look open. I use cama
seperated text files when asked how I want
to save the address books and I use by name not first name, but by name (
it's the fourth choice down in that combo box ). It's pretty easy to follow
as
you go through the process, but if you need more help just let me know. Hope
this helps.
Tippy

The e mail addresses are my only concern. It sounds like I need to relocate the folder, but I would need to know the steps to take. I will look for your previous messages, but I don't think I have them.

doneHi Michael. I'm sorry, but I'd need to know how you backed up your hard drive (that's what you mean, isn't it?). Do you mean you manually copied some or all of the folders to another medium, like floppies (this isn'tvery often for saving very much material anymore, as hard drives havebecomeso huge that not practical. But you said "disk," so I'll presume youmeantandone or three or twenty diskettes. If not, tell me.
My first question is, did you use some sort of automatic backup program, discover that it balked when it got to the folders where you email filesareexceptand refused to copy them? Or did you select various folders manually and find that the email message folders refused to be selected and copied?
Or, and this might be the real problem, which would be hard to guess(program)?that you said you're so new to this stuff: Were you trying to figure out how to simply back up Outlook Express or some other email clientsomeplaceThat is a special procedure that others know how to do, but it's not a simple thing.
What we were discussing here was simply identifying the folder where your email messages are kept, a regular folder, and then copying it tolike the flash memory sticks that many people have begun using for thisof
purpose, which are small devices like .mp3 players but hold only data, not
music, and plug into the USB port on your computer.
This may help you restate your problem, I hope. But if it is this idea, toselected and copying folders and files, then you should read the messages just before you saw mine. It was about this very thing. You simply haveknow which folder your message files are in (there is an explanation a fewup
messages back), and then you can select the folder and copy it somewhere.
Hope this begins to help.

Thank you Yardbird for your response. I am a musician of 40 years and
am quite computer illiterate, so please bare with me. I recently backedkeptmy computer to disk, but my e mail addresses in outlook wouldn't save. Would you by chance know the reason for this?
