Thanks, only curious that was all. So in theory I could just use my existing standard licence to authorize Windows 7 Home Premium without incurring additional charges.

Hi Chris, Mix of assumptions and evidence: We know that JAWS works with Windows 7 RC (at least for now); Since Windows 7 resembles Windows Vista but it issomewhat "modernized" e.g. lesser space on hard disks, somewhat faster thanVista (according to articles that I read), then we can assume and haveevidence to assume that JAWS will work with Windows 7. Also, since Windows 7editions reflectthose found under Vista, then it can be inferred that same OS descriptor mechanism applies here: that Standard supports Home editions while pro supports all of them (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of JAWS). Cheers,Joseph P.S. Windows 7 versions are Home Basic, Home premium, Pro, Enterpriseand Ultimate, just like Vista - Starter is not included here, although the edition lists lists it as one of the editions. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Hallsworth Sent: Monday, June 22, 2009 3:40 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: XP Pro Joseph and all, how do we exactly know that JAWS standard will work for Windows 7 Home Basic and Premium? Have this ever been tested on beta/RC releases? Or has Freedom Scientific confirmed it somewhere? Just curious that's all. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopherh40@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266 Join TAFN by visiting www.tafn.org.uk. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Joseph Lee" <joseph.lee22590@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 22, 2009 11:23 PM To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: XP ProHi Laura, The question of running JAWS under "Home" or "Pro" depends on the JAWSlicense you have. If it is Standard license, you cannot use JAWS under Proversions of Windows. If using Pro license, then you can use JAWS on any version of Windows after 2000. The supported OS based on JAWS licenses are: JAWS Standard: Windows XP Home, Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium. JAWS Professional: Windows 2000 Pro and server editions, Windows XP Home, Professional, Tablet PC*1, Media Center*2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, Ultimate, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate.*1. A tablet PC is a special laptop that allows users to interact with theoperating system with pen and touch screen input. A special XP version, called Windows XP Tablet PC Edition exists to deal with this type of laptops. This is essentially XP Pro base with tablet functionality, thus requiring JAWS Pro to run. *2. Media Center Edition is another version of XP that is used with advanced media devices, such as TV tuner cards, advanced video recording and so forth. Just like Tablet PC Edition, it is essentially XP Pro with Media Center application, thus you need JAWS Pro. As for Windows 7, users confirmed compatibility with JAWS for Windows (at least version 10).
