I edit with it off too, since it doesn't actually go to the misspelling
but tells me there is one anyway, I just don't see the need for it, and
prefer to do my check when I am finished writing.

Hi Rose,
Thank you for your comments.  Adding to that, I use the "show spelling
errors" on as I am editing text.  I turn it off when I'm reading for
context.  I'd consider myself a pretty good speller, but when I'm
creating text, I prefer to just type and not have extra stuff get in the
way.
